Camille Ann Gillespie, 77, of Wayne, Michigan, passed away on July 9, 2026.
Camille was a devoted educator and accomplished scholar who served as a Professor of Finance at the University of Michigan. Throughout her career, she shared her knowledge, wisdom, and passion for learning with generations of students and colleagues. She will be remembered for her intelligence, dedication, and commitment to education.
Outside of her professional life, Camille found great joy in the simple beauty of nature. She loved to garden, finding peace and fulfillment in caring for her plants and watching them grow. Her garden reflected the patience, care, and appreciation for life that she carried with her.
Camille also shared a very special bond with her beloved dog, Woodmore Athena, a Thoroughbred English Springer Spaniel. Athena was a cherished companion and an important part of Camille's life, bringing her comfort, affection, and countless happy moments.
Camille is survived by her brother, Robert J. Gillespie, who will carry her memory forward with love and affection.
Camille's life was marked by a love of learning, a caring heart, and an appreciation for the natural world and the companionship of those she loved. She leaves behind memories that will be treasured by her family, friends, former students, and colleagues.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
