Carl Thomas Muma, born January 30, 1932, passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of his wife and family.
Carl found his greatest joy in time spent with family and friends. He treasured gatherings with all his people, relished travel adventures (often with his grandchildren), and took pride in tackling “do-it-yourself” projects around the home. With an unwavering ability to see the good in people, his wisdom, humor, and love brought warmth and laughter to every gathering. His ability to always find the positivity and joy in people made him a guiding beacon for his family.
Early in his life, Carl proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his military service, he earned a degree in accounting from Walsh College and went on to build a successful career as an accountant and finance officer. He found purpose and inspiration in every role he held and in the people with whom he worked. One of his favorite positions was serving as comptroller of Motown Records in Detroit, where he developed a deep and lasting love for the music of that era. His professional life was defined by integrity, diligence, and a commitment to teamwork.
Carl was actively involved in the civil rights movement, reflecting a deep commitment to justice and equality. This social conscience remained a defining part of who he was throughout his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him.
Carl is survived by his devoted wife, Marion, and his three children, Bruce, Donna, and Brian, of whom he was immensely proud. He was a loving grandfather to nine grandchildren—Megan, Kelly, Kevin, Shae, Emily, Paige, Jackson, Grace, and Jasmine—and a cherished great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren—McKenna, Jamie, Leo, Isadore, and Norah.
Carl was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. His legacy of kindness, integrity, and love will live on in the many lives he touched.
