Obituary of Darvina Strobridge

Darvina "Darvie" Strobridge, age 91, July 2, 1918 to December 30, 2009. Devoted daughter to the late Joseph and Louise (Nonni) Giorgi. Loving wife of the late James. Nurturing Mother of Jim (Pat), Darvina "Sis" Heichemer (Dave), Debby Samarian (Mark) and Ty (Mary). Gramma Darv to Jill (Joe), Amy, Julie, David, Taylor and Davis. Great-Gramma to Reese. Loving Aunt of The Robert Forbes Family. Practicing as a World War II surgical nurse and registered nurse gave her many opportunities to provide others with compassion and care. Her Italian heritage influenced her love of opera, food, travel and family. Darvie's passions throughout her life were her many activities with the AYH, Elder Hostel, "Red Hatters" and OPC. Travel, golf, swimming, skiing, camping and hiking with numerous friends filled her life with joy and adventure. Please join her family for a Memorial Celebration of her life followed by a luncheon on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at 12 pm at The Bloomfield Open Hunt Club 405 E. Long Lake Road, Bloomfield Hills, 48304. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gleaners Community food Bank of Detroit, 2131 Beaufait, Detroit 48207 or www.GCFB.org.
