Obituary of Denise Ruth Fernald

Denise Ruth Fernald (Boyd), 62, of Pontiac, MI. passed away on Friday September 7th, 2018, after a nearly 7-year battle with lung cancer. She passed peacefully in her sleep, pain free and surrounded by loved ones.

In lieu of a memorial, we had a Celebration of Life party. A grand Hawaiian Luau where Denise was able to share in memories and feel the love. Friends and family who were not able to attend are highly encouraged to have their own personal memorials in remembrance. Her daughter Caren is available to attend at your request.

Denise was born in Royal Oak, MI. to Arthur Earl Boyd and Doris Ruth Boyd (Chesney) on June 26th, 1956. She graduated from Troy High in 1974, married her high school sweetheart in August of 1975, gave birth to her only child, Caren Boatman (Fernald) , on December 12, 1978, and was divorced in April of 1985. Denise held various positions in the service industry throughout her life; cashier, waitress, banquet server and most recently, independent mail courier. She worked hard for everything she had and was always proud of her accomplishments.

Denise was an amazing person. Strong, smart, beautiful and brave. A loving mother and grandmother, (affectionately referred to as Ama) and the very best friend anyone could ask for.

Denise is preceded in death by her father, Art. She is survived by her mother Doris, her daughter Caren, and her two grandchildren Martin and Jessica.
