Obituary of Dorothy Anne Sechrist

Dorothy Sechrist (nee McDonald), age 83, June 7, 2013. Dorothy was born on September 20, 1929, in Detroit, MI, to Dr. Hubert (Edna) McDonald. She is survived by her daughters, Vivian (Thomas) Kuhn of Gap Mills, WV and Regina of CA; brother Hubert (Janet) MacDonald of Mc Murry, PA; and eight grandchildren, Micah Kuhn, Jared (Tara) Kuhn, Esther (Stephen) Simmons, Susanna, Abigail, Matthias, Jonathan, and Josiah Kuhn. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pauline Barnes Kopek.

Dorothy was a retired educator with the Dearborn Public Schools. She had a love of choral singing and was a member of a number of Metro Detroit chorale groups, including the Rackam Symphony Choir, the Fort Street Chorale and the Christ Church (Grosse Pointe) Chorale.

A memorial mass will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013, at 11am, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 13540 Gould St., Dearborn. A luncheon will follow.

Her family suggests donations to the American Diabetes Association, the American Stroke Association, or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
