Eddie J. Hatton, affectionately known as “Mickey,” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the age of 74.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted goddaughter, Keaunta Lyons (Chey Lyons); god-grandchildren, Devaunta, Diamond, and Trey; great-god-grandchildren, Jordan, Gianni, and Giovanni; his beloved godsister, Feliesha Alexander; and a host of relatives and friends who will forever treasure his love, legacy and wisdom.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, Delores and Eddie Young Hatton; his sister, Deborah; and his grandparents.
Master Sergeant Eddie Hatton proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserves at Selfridge Air National Guard Base under the 927th Tactical Airlift Wing/Air Refueling Wing. His military career spanned from 1973 until 2008, during which he formed lifelong bonds with his Air Force family—whom he lovingly considered his extended family.
Eddie started his career as an air traffic controller. He served in the Gulf War (1990–1991) at Mirage Air Base in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he worked as an Aircraft Technician. Eddie was later stationed in France during Operation Enduring Freedom (1999 and 2003), where he skillfully repaired communication and navigation equipment on the C-130 aircraft during the Gulf War and the KC-135 aircraft during Enduring Freedom.
Eddie was a dedicated and committed proud veteran who remained steadfast in the military traits that defined him —bravery, independence, and the freedom to live life on his own terms. These qualities sometimes made him a bit stubborn, but they also reflected his self-reliance and determination. Despite his toughness, Eddie’s humility and kindness always shone through, touching the hearts of everyone around him. His gentle nature, paired with hisstrong will, will be forever remembered and cherished by all who knew him.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no funeral, memorial or public service. He will be cremated privately.
We appreciate your thoughts and support during this time.
Please feel free to remember Eddie in your own way, in the moments and memories that meant the most to you.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in Eddie’s honor may be made to the Salvation Army.
