Edward Charles Kohl, 75, of Grosse Pointe Woods, passed away on December 31, 2025. He was born on June 8, 1950, in Grosse Pointe Farms, Michigan to Edward Quincy and Anne (Archbutt).
Edward graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1968. It was there in school that he met his wife, Stephanie. It was love at first sight, and they married on July 1, 1972. Together they shared a love of adventure, traveling around the country and the world. They also shared a love of boating, often packing up the family for a fun day on the lake, or a weekend trip out to Boblo Island.
For his career, he worked in loss prevention for Hudson’s and Marshall Field’s. After retirement, he kept himself busy enjoying a part-time position at Comerica Park, working as an extra in a variety of movies that were filmed in Metro Detroit, working the polls during election time, and volunteering as a dog walker for a local animal shelter.
Edward was a model railroading enthusiast. In addition to attending many train shows and taking his family on train trips across the country, he had a remarkable train layout and collection that he was quite proud of. He was also an avid reader and passed this love down to his children through many treasured visits to the comic bookstore and library. Edward will be remembered for his sense of humor, and for the love and care he showed his family. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Edward is survived by his wife, Stephanie; his sister, Susan; his children, Adam and Amy; and his grandson, Enzo.He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Quincy, and his mother, Anne.
A service will take place on January 19th, at St. Ambrose Church, 15020 Hampton St, Grosse Pointe Park, MI 48230, at 11:00 AM.
