Frederick C. Salk, Born July 4,1942 in Detroit, Michigan. Passed away peacefully at home in SCS, MI on Saturday May 3, 2025, at the age of 82. Fred graduated from Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic High School. He was employed at Conrail and retired after 35 years of service. Fred was an army veteran, pigeon flyer, hunter, and fisherman. His favorite sports teams were the Lions and Tigers. He also enjoyed bowling, tending to his garden, and mastering the art of barbecuing/grilling.
Fred leaves behind his daughters, Dawn (Mark) Sumner and Deborah Salk; Son, Brian (April) Salk; and six grandchildren; Griffin, Sabrina, Kyle, Cameron, Julian, and Lily. He is also survived by his sisters, Delores (Late Jim) Trandell and Shirley (Late David) Miller, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Gibson) Salk; parents, John and Angeline Salk; brothers, Ronald (Maryanne) Salk, Joseph (Jacqueline) Salk; and sisters, Helen (Richard) Sieja and Gloria (Zygmund) Sieja.
A memorial service to celebrate Fred’s life will be held at Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 22412 Overlake Street, Saint Clair Shores, Michigan 48080. Date and time is to be determined later.
