Obituary of Gerald (Jerry) L. Lopez

Gerald (Jerry) L. Lopez MD January 11, 1928 - July 16, 2018 Born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. Beloved husband of Annette Bak-Lopez. Father of Lillian Teresa Pawl and Richard Jose Lopez (fianc Michelle Hayes & son Jonathon Hayes). Grandfather of Danielle, Richard, and Jonathon Lopez, Taren, Edmund and Michael Pawl. Great-grandfather of Kendrix and Deklyn Janis- Lopez. Preceded in death by his parents Jose V. and Helen B. Lopez and daughter Elizabeth. Dr. Jerry was the vice- chairman of the Emergency Department of Providence Hospital in Southfield from 1968 thru 1981. He was actively involved in the paramedic training for the city of Southfield. Following his tenure at Providence Hospital, he established two of the first Urgent Care Centers in Michigan. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in Military Intelligence and Army Language School in Monterrey, California. Because of his love of his island, in lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in his name to Puerto Rico Relief Charites, Disabled American Veterans or charities of your choice. Funeral services on August 2nd at St. Hugo of the Hills Stone Chapel in Bloomfield Hills at 10:30 AM. Please share a memory of Dr. Jerry by writing on his tribute wall.
