Glenn Dell Bennett III

July 4, 1941 — May 12, 2026

Pleasant Ridge, MI

Glenn Dell Bennett III passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, with his loving wife, Nancy Zimmermann, at his side. Born on July 4, 1941, in Detroit, Glenn carried a lifelong sense of joy about his Independence Day birthday—his grandfather always told him the fireworks were just for him, and many childhood celebrations featured watermelon with candles in place of a cake. He grew up in Rosedale Park and graduated from Benedictine High School, beginning a life shaped by curiosity, conviction, and a deep belief that “all we have is today.”

Glenn was the son of Glenn Dell Bennett Jr. and Dorthy Bennett, and brother to Sharon Borgne, Craig Bennett, and the late Michelle Brayer. He became a devoted father to Jeanette Kelly, Suzanne Bennett Cain (Skip Cain), Kathryn Bennett (Eric Edmondson), Marilyn Bennett Kean (deceased), Christy Hague, and Corey Hague. He took enormous pride in his granddaughters—Siobhan Kelly, Ayanna Kean, Maya Kean, and Aoife Bennett Roberts—and treasured his many nieces and nephews.

A man of service, Glenn spent eight years in the Naval Reserve, embracing discipline, responsibility, and leadership that stayed with him throughout his life. He was also a proud member of the Shriners and the Masons, valuing fellowship, charity, and community.

Music ran deep in Glenn’s life. With a warm tenor voice, he sang in the Don Large Chorus at the University of Detroit and performed on WJR radio. He also lent his voice as a backup singer on a Motown album.

A true lifelong learner, Glenn was endlessly curious about how everything worked. He listened more than he spoke, always fully present with the person in front of him. He lived by simple, steady principles: tell the truth, and always stand tall. He also believed deeply in staying grounded in the present moment—the past is that, and the future is not promised.

In high school, Glenn played football and carried his love of physical activity throughout his life. In his 40s he became a competitive water skier, and when he later recognized the toll his athletic pursuits had taken on his body, he shifted gracefully to cycling, yoga, and Pilates—ever adaptable and always committed to strength and well‑being.

Glenn had many craftsman’s talents. He was an avid collector of historical guns and enjoyed shooting sporting clays. Even more impressively, he was an extraordinary woodworker, creating furniture, lighting, and intricately designed bowls and boards that family and friends will cherish for generations.

In 1979, Glenn founded the Glenn Bennett Corporation, building a successful industrial filtration company through grit, innovation, and fairness. His work reflected the same steady values that defined his life.

A lover of nature, Glenn found peace in the quiet of the outdoors. Whether exploring, observing, or simply breathing in the world around him, he carried a deep appreciation for the beauty of the present moment.

Glenn’s life was rich with love, work, curiosity, and conviction. He lived by his own teachings—stand tall, listen deeply, tell the truth, and embrace today. His family and all who knew him feel his absence profoundly, yet they carry forward the principles he lived so faithfully.

He will be deeply missed and warmly remembered.
