Obituary of Helen Mary Kowalik

Helen Kowalik age 94 passed peacefully into eternal life on October 31st surrounded by her family. Preceded in death by her husband Edward. Beloved mother of her children Marcia (Michael) Nowc, Deborah Knight, Carleen (Kevin) Brady, and Alan (Francine) Kowalik. Proud grandmother of Matthew (Rachel), Eric, Candice, Adam, Alex, and Aaron and great grandmother of Emily, Norah, Abigail and Macie. She was the youngest of 7 children born in Hamtramck to parents who immigrated here from Poland. She was widowed at the age of 47 with 4 children to raise on her own who all grew up to be successful and caring adults through the example she set. She was not only our mother, but our friend. She persevered through many challenging times in her life with strength, acceptance and prayer. She guided us through her love, understanding, patience, wisdom and humor. She touched many people throughout her long life with friendship and kindness. Although our hearts are broken, we understand the physical difficulties you faced, the burden it placed on your spirit, and the feeling that your journey was complete, your body was tired, and you were ready to be at peace. We take comfort in knowing that the angels in heaven have opened their arms to welcome you. We've had a lot of happy and fun times together and these memories we shared will sustain us through those days when our grief seems overwhelming. Your family was everything to you and your legacy is your children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who loved you very much and will forever keep you in our hearts. A private family service will be held in celebration and honor of her life. Inurnment will be at Resurrection Cemetery.
