Obituary of James Lee Baldwin

Baldwin, James (Jimmy Lee) 12/22/1935 12/10/2016 James Baldwin, age 80, departed this life on December 10, 2016 in Allen Park, Mi., at Maple Heights Retirement Community. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church of Detroit, 441 Monroe Street, Detroit, MI., 48226. James graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan College, a Bachelor of Music Education from Central Michigan College, Master of Music from Michigan State University and Master of Arts from the University of Detroit. James retired from the Detroit Public School System after 29 years of service. He moved to Mobile, AL for several years but returned to Detroit and worked for the State of Michigan Department of Social Services for a few years. James had a passion for music and played the organ/piano at several churches in the Detroit area and for various events. He is survived by his sister Hattie (Baldwin) Childrey, brothers Daniel (Kay) Baldwin and Phillip (JoAnn) Baldwin and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a Memorial Contribution to a charity of your choice be given in memory of James.
