Obituary of James Albert Burke

James Albert Burke, 67, of Vassar, formerly of Lum, passed away on August 31, 2018, at his home. James was born in Lapeer, Michigan on September 1, 1950 to the late Joy P. and Imogene B. (Walker) Burke. James married Louise M. Gouine on August 23, 1969 at the Calvary Bible Church in Lapeer. James worked at Almont Hydraulic Tube and Fitting Co for 2 years until he hired into Fisher Body Pontiac in November 1970, then in 1983 he transferred to GM-Lake Orion. He retired from GM in October 2000 after working for 30 years. James always enjoyed hunting, fishing, and RVing with his family and friends. He thoroughly enjoyed his last years living at his estate, Wildwood, in Vassar. James is survived by his wife, Louise; his 2 sons James E. (Shelly) of Caro and Gregory (Shawn) of Vassar; 3 grandsons Casey and Justin of Vassar, James E. II of Caro, and 2 granddaughters Sarah of Caro and Katelyn of Vassar; his brother Daniel and sister Joan of North Branch. Cremation is being handled by The Cremation Society of Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Wellspring Lutheran Services- Hospice in Frankenmuth. A memorial gathering to celebrate James life will be held at a later date.
