In Loving Memory of
Jeanne Ann Wyatt
March 29, 1948 – September 17, 2025
Jeanne Ann Wyatt, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was 77 as years old.
Born on March 29, 1948, Jeanne was the middle child of George and Dorothy Daubresse, and the cherished granddaughter of Leslie and Medora McKee and George and Marie Louis Daubresse.
A lifelong learner, Jeanne earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan. She carried her love of knowledge throughout her life, sharing it generously through her work and volunteerism. Jeanne was deeply passionate about education and dedicated countless hours tutoring in math programs throughout the city of Detroit, helping young students discover confidence and joy in learning.
For nearly five decades, Jeanne made her home in Detroit’s Indian Village neighborhood, where she was a devoted community member. She served for many years on the Indian Village board and played a key role in organizing the neighborhood’s celebrated home tours. Her commitment to community, learning, and beauty was evident in all she did — from her caring spirit, to her beloved gardens and unwavering believe in the importance of education.
Jeanne was an avid reader, a lover of travel, and a woman who found wonder in both the world around her and the people she met.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Willie James Wyatt; her loving daughter, Christina Elizabeth Phipps; her son-in-law, Colin Richard Phipps; and her adoring granddaughters, Ava Ireland and Emma Berlin Phipps. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Georgina Takemoto and George Daubresse.
Jeanne’s warmth, intelligence, and compassion touched everyone who knew her. Her memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in her life.
A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held at a later date at the Detroit Yacht Club.
