Julia Grigsby, also known as "Julie", "JuJu", "Judy", "Lady G", and "Button Nose", was born September 12, 1938, in Cheraw, South Carolina, to the late William C. Hurt Sr. and Ammie Hattie Hurt. She was raised on the east side of Detroit, Michigan and attended Northeastern High School. Julia was also preceded in death by her youngest son, Jerry Grigsby, a granddaughter Summer Grigsby, her siblings Hattie Mae Hurt, George Hurt, Ruth Hurt, Vera Hurt and William Hurt Jr.
Julia Gave her heart to the Lord at an early age of 12 in Roseville, Michigan and was raised in a Christian home. She was married at a young age to James Herbert Grigsby, to which three sons were born to that union and later to Patrick Pabai. She almost became a Supreme with Diana Ross and the Supremes, and loved to ballroom dance. Julia transitioned after a long illness, and short hospital stay.
She leaves to mourn: Her sons, Rudy V. Grigsby (Life partner Helen Ellis), Herbert Grigsby Jr., Daughter Ursula Grigsby, her sisters, Patricia Hurt, Hattie Sanders, Dr. Janice Hurt, Eva Hurt, her grandsons Jeremy Grigsby (Tiara), Daniel Foster, Jayson Grigsby (Asia), Rudy Grigsby Jr., William Grigsby, Reginald Anderson, Granddaughters Tangie, Shakail, Shantel, Leia, Keia, Great Grandchildren (Jeremy Jr., Mary, Carmen, Mario Jr., Daniel Jr. (DJ, Jamouree), Great Great Grandchildren (Hunter, Egypt), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and cousins.
