Marilyn Jean (Hewitt) Borow passed away peacefully in Wyoming, Michigan on March 7, 2026. She was born on June 22, 1929 to Alfred and Ada (Rickard) Hewitt originally from Cornwall, England. Jean grew up in Ironwood, Michigan with brothers Jerry, Jack, Bill, Eddie, and Don who have all preceded her in passing. She married William Alexander Borow on September 16, 1950 after he returned from serving in the US Coast Guard. She then earned her nursing degree from Harper Hospital and cared for others both professionally and as a volunteer. Before his passing in 1996, Bill and Jean enjoyed many years together boating, fishing, and hosting family and friends in their home on Lake St. Clair.
She will be lovingly missed by her children Lynnea (Karl) McHenry of Ten Mile, Tennessee, Scott (Lori) Borow of Wyoming, Michigan, and by her grandchildren Derek, Jael, Matt, and Sarah. She took special joy and pride in watching them grow into adults. She enjoyed spending precious time with her great-grandchildren Marisa, Ryan, Reed,Thea, and Piper and keeping in touch with nieces and nephews. Jean found great pleasure in meeting neighbors for breakfast, taking classes, going on bus trips, cross stitching, and knitting for family, friends, and charities. She was proud of being a Yooper and delighted in a good pasty, Sanders chocolate, English tea, and hot black coffee.
There will be no formal service, but friends and family may honor her by recalling treasured memories of their own shared experiences. Memorial gifts can be directed to :
