Obituary of Marjorie Y. Sherry


Marjorie Y. Sherry died Wednesday evening, June 6, 2007, at her home after battling numerous health problems for several years. She was 80 years old. She had resided in New York, Michigan, Port Bolivar, Texas and most recently in Rochester Hills, MI.

Marjorie was born November 20, 1926 in Troy NY, the only daughter of David H. Herrington and wife, Helen L. Palmer. Her father passed away when Marjorie was four and she was raised in several communities in New York and Massachusetts.

She graduated from Central Michigan University in 1970 and accepted a teaching position in the Galveston Independent School District, Galveston, Texas. She worked with infinite patience with handicapped children in the district

On February 15, 1974, she married the love of her life, Richard P. Sherry in Galveston, Texas. They enjoyed camping and fishing and traveled to every state except Hawaii.

She is survived by her children and their families: Pamela A. (William) Warren of Troy, MI, James A. (Mary) Yearnd of Harvard, IL., Rae A. Yearnd of Debach, LA, Richard's children and their families: Richard P. (Vicki) Sherry of Sanford, MI., Elizabeth (Robert) Goffnett of Mt. Pleasant, MI., and Cynthia (Craig) Johnson of Vancouver, WA.

She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Carrie Warren, sons Andrew and Joshua Saul, Laura Warren-Gross (Jay), children Noah, Natalie and Molly, Jennifer Warren, James A. Yearnd III, Rae A. Yearnd Jr. Virginia (Mike) Guerrero, daughter Lillian Grace, Lauren A. Yearnd and son Ryan, Ryan Revitzer, Cindie (Brian) Granger, children Zachary, Ashley and Justin, Michael (fiancee Teresa and son Mavrick) Goffnett, Rick Goffnett, Troy (Jill) Milan, Kim (Pete) Hackett, daughter Jessica, and Kathy Oswabine.

Friends may greet family beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 9 at the home of Bill and Pam Warren.

Donations in memory of Marjorie may be made to Beaumont Hospice or a charity of one's choice.
