Obituary of Mark C. Reid

Mark C. Reid, age 47, of Brighton Township, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018, after a long battle with cancer.

Mark was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan on December 25, 1970, to the late Elizabeth Priest (Bogedin) and Lawrence Reid. Mark grew up in Traverse City and Central Lake, Michigan, learning from his mother and the late Gordon Priest how to enjoy the bounty of being Up North on Lake Michigan. After graduating from Central Lake High School in 1989, Mark went on to earn his Bachelors degree from the University of Michigan in 1993 and his Juris Doctorate from Florida State University College of Law in 2000. Mark loved his family, music, art, Lake Michigan, Michigan football and his work as a mortgage banking attorney. He was grateful for the friends and family he gained in twenty years in Florida. Mark was overjoyed to return to Michigan in 2014, where he found wonderful friends and a sense of community in Brighton and at work. Mark was immensely proud of his children, Darcy Noel, Gordon Paul and Anna Elizabeth. He is also survived by his wife of 17 years, Alicia (Westhoff), brother, Dann (Dawn) Reid, sister, Sarah (Paul) Ziomek, his adorable nieces and nephews, his aunts Terri (Richard) Riemer and Theresa Szachta, and his Bogedin and Szachta cousins. Mark was preceded in death by his mother Elizabeth Priest, his step-father Gordon Priest, his father Lawrence Reid, his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

Mark was a member of the vestry for St. Pauls Episcopal Church, 200 West St. Paul Street, Brighton, Michigan 48116, where his funeral will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at 6:00 pm (visitation at 5:00 pm).
