Francis, Pamela R., age 62, passed away on April 18, 2010, after a battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, Derek; brothers Ernest and Ray Rapalee; step-children Mark and Susanna Francis; and granddaughter Emma. Pamela graduated from Grosse Pointe High School and earned a BSN at Wayne State University. She began her nursing career as a staff nurse in charge of the ICU at Detroit Receiving Hospital, became clinical director and head nurse at Hutzel Hospital from 1974-1981 and from 1981-1992 was critical care instructor at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital. Pam's second love was for the viola. She played in the Grosse Pointe Symphony for 40 years, was personnel manager for 30 years and later served on the board of directors. She enjoyed playing chamber music and attended Interlochen summer camp for many years. Pam will be missed by her many friends as a fun-loving, enthusiastic and caring person. A celebrations of life will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 12 noon at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial, 32 Lakeshore Dr., Grosse Pointe Farms, MI. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Grosse Pointe Symphony Orchestra.
