Patricia Ann (Byrne) Shaw
June 27, 1930-June 12, 2025
Passed peacefully on June 12, 2025. She was 94 years old. She is survived by her children Lisa, Kathryn (Katie), Gerald (Jerry), Steven, and Matthew and by her grandchildren Evan, Vera, Gloria, Thomas, Andrew, Cecilia, and Lewis. She is preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and John Byrne; siblings Kathleen, Kenneth, John, Thomas, and Dolores; husband, James (Jim) Shaw; and sons James (Jim) and Patrick (Pat) Shaw.
Pat attended Nativity elementary and high school in Detroit and was proud to accomplish, later in life, her goal of returning to classes to complete her high school degree,
After Pat and Jim married they moved from the east to the west side of Detroit, where Pat continued to reside until shortly before her death. She was a homemaker and devoted mother to her seven children. In addition to running the home and raising the children Pat was an accomplished seamstress, re-upholsterer, furniture refinisher and overall skilled handy woman. She loved going to rummage sales and finding hidden gems of furniture that she could restore and gift to family and friends. She was a great cook and baker and generously hosted, for many years, lively holiday and birthday meals that were happily attended not only by family but by a multitude of her children’s friends.
Pat was a devoted Catholic and embodied the spirit of her religion in her selflessness, kindness, and compassion toward others.
A Catholic burial mass will be celebrated at St. Michael’s church in Sterling Heights on Saturday July 12, 2025 at 11:00 am. There will be a reception at the church following the mass. The internment of Pat’s ashes will take place at Elmwood Cemetery at a future time.
