Philip Jon Sinutko

February 15, 1973 — June 5, 2026

Royal Oak, MI

Philip Jon Sinutko, age 53, of Royal Oak, Michigan, passed away on June 5, 2026, in Royal Oak, surrounded by the love of family and friends whose lives he touched so deeply.

Born on February 15, 1973, Phil was raised in Royal Oak, Michigan. He attended Dondero High School, where he distinguished himself as an exceptional athlete. A natural leader both on and off the field, Phil excelled as a varsity pitcher, quarterback, and power forward. His athletic accomplishments earned him collegiate opportunities at Macomb Community College and Wayne State University, where he continued his baseball career as a starting pitcher for the Tartars.

Phil was known for his larger-than-life personality, infectious sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved. He was truly the life of the party and the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to help a friend, family member, or complete stranger in need. His generosity, kindness, and willingness to lend a helping hand left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Above all else, Phil’s greatest pride and accomplishment in life were his four children: Olivia, Nolan, Isabella, and Parker Sinutko. He loved them beyond measure and cherished every moment spent watching them grow, supporting their dreams, and celebrating their achievements. His legacy lives on through each of them, and the values he instilled—hard work, perseverance, compassion, and love of family—will continue to guide them throughout their lives.

A dedicated and hardworking tradesman, Phil spent much of his career in the skilled trades as a proud member of the Carpenters Union. No matter how long the workday had been, he always found time to help friends and family with projects, repairs, or whatever was needed. His strong work ethic was matched only by his generous spirit.

When he wasn’t working, Phil could often be found enjoying the things he loved most: family, friends, sports, and the outdoors. A lifelong and devoted Detroit Tigers fan, he spent countless days at Tiger Stadium and Comerica Park, often arriving early to watch batting practice and soak in the atmosphere of the game he loved. One of his favorite places to relax was Belle Isle Park, where he enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and taking in the beauty of a Michigan sunset.

Phil is survived by his loving parents, George and Rebecca (Johnson) Sinutko; his children, Olivia, Nolan, Isabella, and Parker Sinutko; his brother, Adam Sinutko and wife Jaime; and his former wife, Michelle (Ketelhut) Sinutko.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Derek and Dustin Sinutko.

Though Phil’s time with us was far too short, his impact was immeasurable. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, laughter, friendship, and love. His strength, generosity, and devotion to family will never be forgotten, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day”.
