Obituary of Stephen David Senecoff MD

Stephen David Senecoff, M.D. passed away December 17, 2015 at his home in Bloomfield Hills of complications from a stroke sustained earlier in the year.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Wayne; his sister, Joan; his four children, their spouses and their three children; his stepson, his wife and their son; and his many patients, some of whom were under his care for nearly half a century.

Born in New York City in 1930, Dr. Senecoff received his B.A. from New York University in 1952. He then studied abroad at Leiden University in the Netherlands, where in 1955 earned both his medical degree and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, and was honored as valedictorian of his class. A brilliant diagnostician who was tirelessly devoted to his patients, Dr. Senecoff saved many lives during his 50 years of practice, and made a lasting impact on countless more though he would wholeheartedly protest such a compliment.

An avid sports fan, his love of baseball especially the San Francisco Giants was paralleled only by his devotion to the New York Giants, for whom he briefly played football in the early 1950s. He also had a deep, lifelong appreciation for the arts, and spent many an hour relaxing in front of his piano.

In keeping with Dr. Senecoff's wishes, no service will be held; humble to the end, he preferred everyone to remember him in a way that was personal and special to them. In that spirit, the family requests simply that you hold your loved ones a little closer, laugh a little bit louder at terrible jokes, and never pass up a chance to help a stranger in need. For those so inclined, donations can be made to a charity of your choice in memoriam
