Steven J. Van Sickle

Steven James Van Sickle, Age 56, of Sterling Heights, MI, died September 26, 2026 from a short-term illness. Born, June 14, 1970, in Macomb Co., Steve grew up in Shelby Township, MI. He was the son of Donald “Wayne” and Carol Louise Mann Van Sickle. He is survived by his Son, Steven James Jr. (Raven), and Daughter, Annie. His son Thomas Copeland and his mother, Carol Louise Van Sickle, and Brother John Van Sickle. Aunts Nancy Asdell and Sue Sova and Cousins Mary, Debbie and Holly He was predeceased in death by his Father, Donald W. Van Sickle, Grandparents, John and Sophia Mann, Donald and Florence Van Sickle, Aunts, Joyce Van Sickle and Linda Van Sickle

Steve was a graduate of Eisenhower Sr. High School, Utica, MI. During High School, he worked after school and weekends at a local glass shop, leading him to the beginning of his lifetime career. He also was an accomplished woodworker and did side jobs of building decks and doing specialized glasswork. Steve took pride in his work and enjoyed being creative.

One of his favorite places to go was to his grandparents out in the country north of Rochester and spend time with his grandfather building and making things in wood when he was youngster. He participated and enjoyed camping at historical 18th Century events and shooting his muzzleloaders. That interest took him to places where he was in movies about the early 1800’s. He liked watching football games but spending quality time with Steven Jr. and Annie were his most enjoyable times.

He adored his children and showed great devotion to them and was a strong mentor to them and he will be greatly missed.

Family and friendships were at the heart of Steve’s life. He loved being close to those he loved and maintained strong and lasting ties with family and friends. He will be remembered by those who knew him for the relationships he treasured and the many ways he remained connected to the people he loved. He was especially fond of his former in-laws, Donald W. and Nancy MacDonald, of which he spent much of his time with them in his later days.
