With profound sadness, the family of Terence Joseph Higgins, 75, announces his passing on September 18, 2025, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Born on January 20, 1950, in Springfield, Ohio, Terry was the son of Robert Higgins, Sr. and beloved Lou Ann Kilcoyne Higgins. After graduating from Springfield High School, Terry attended Kent State University where he threw himself into anti-war demonstrations, civil rights protests, and social justice activism with conviction and passion. He later completed his nursing degree at the University of Toledo.
Terry devoted his professional life to caring for others, working first with young adults at St. Vincent Medical Center and Herrick Hospital. He finished his career serving the mentally ill at the Center for Forensic Psychiatry in Saline, Michigan.
He is deeply missed by his children, Derrick (Arika Okrent), Rachel (Alexander Weinstein), and Jerome, as well as his former spouse, Julie. His grandchildren—Mason, Abby, Leo, Blake and Louisa—were his greatest joy. Terry is also mourned by his brother David (Janie), his sister Cindy (Craig Kenley), and his lifelong friend Brad Brotje (Sandy).
Terry was preceded in death by his siblings Bobby and Mary Jo.
Significantly, Terry was also predeceased by his cherished, minutes-older twin, Jerry, who was lost far too soon on the killing fields of Vietnam. The family takes solace in believing Terry and Jerry will find each other again.

Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, Too-ra-loo-ra-li,
Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral, that's an Irish lullaby.
Loved ones will gather to celebrate Terry’s life at the Stone Chalet, 1917 Washtenaw Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 on Sunday, October 5th, between two and five o’clock.
