Thomas Walter Stevenson, age 92, formerly of Chelsea, MI, passed peacefully into the arms of
the Lord on May 28, 2025 at Story Point Assisted Living in Saline. Born in Detroit, Michigan,
on June 22, 1932 to William and Mary Stevenson, Tom graduated from Redford High School
before joining the United States Marine Corps. He served proudly from April 9, 1951 to April 9,
1954, including in Korea, where he was injured in the line of duty.
He was married to Darlaine Dugan from 1954 to 1985, and together they had six children. He
was married to Kathleen Rashleigh from 1988 until she passed in 1993. He then married
Antoinette Selewonik on July 27, 1995, and she survives him.
Tom retired after many decades of hard work as a Carpenter, Building Contractor and
Construction Project Manager. He built many new homes and transformed countless others
with his skill and artistry.
He loved the outdoors, especially to hunt and fish, and forged many priceless memories with
family and friends pursuing those pastimes. He was passionate about wood carving and
created the most beautiful renditions of wild ducks, birds of prey, and fish. His artistic
expression extended to stained glass works and restoring several classic cars.
Preceding him in death are his parents, brother, Dan and sister, Dolores, and grandson Tommy.
He is survived by his children: D’Anne Kriesel (Terry), Mark Stevenson (Margaret), Kathy Scheib
(Tim), Shawn Stevenson (Ron Snook), Mary Kennedy (Joel), Veronica Peterson (Lynn Postel).
And step-children: Yvonne Calahan (Kevin), Alice Kristian (Don), Karen Jonik (Matt), and Lisa
Selewonik.
He was blessed with 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, who were the delight of his
life.
Tom will be remembered for his kindness, unwavering integrity, and love for his family. His
sense of humor and wisdom were gifts to everyone who knew him. Memorial contributions, in
lieu of flowers, may be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, T2T.org.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 at St. Andrew Catholic
Church in Saline, Michigan. Visitation 9:30 am, Funeral 10:30 am, followed by a luncheon with
sharing of memories. Internment with honor guard at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly,
MI at 2:30 pm.
