William Edward Smyth, age 93, of Farmington Hills, MI, died March 18, 2018. A funeral mass will be celebrated on March 26, 2018, at 10:00 A. M. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Road, Farmington, MI. The family will hold visitation an hour prior to the mass. Private interment services will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
Mr. Smyth was born October 11, 1924, in Cleveland, OH, the third of four children of Robert and Catherine (Sheehan) Smyth. Mr. Smyth served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. A graduate of Ohio Northern University, he earned a B. S. in Education and was a member of the Theta Kappa Phi fraternity. He married Mary Jo Bruner on June 23, 1951. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings. Surviving are his wife, Mary Jo Smyth of Farmington Hills, MI; son, Timothy Smyth and his wife, Paula of Estero, FL; daughter, Janet Smyth and her husband, Rod Short of Thaxton, VA; son, Daniel Smyth and his wife, Cathryn of Chesterfield, MI; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
