Obituary of William Clyde Wilson

William C. Wilson, 90, of Novi, passed away at his home on Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Bill was born on May 1, 1929, in Detroit to Clyde Wilson and Ella (Wedermeyer) Wilson.

Bill loved music of all kinds and greatly enjoyed singing in the Farmington Community Chorus, the Langsford Mens Choir, and several local barber shop quartets. As a student at Michigan State, Bill took part in musical productions and later performed with a big band while serving in the Army in Tokyo. A true audiophile, Bill transformed his home in Livonia into something of a sound lab outfitted with multiple turntables, reel-to-reel recorders, headphone jacks in every room, and state of the art speakers and stereo system he built himself. He fostered a keen appreciation for music in his children in many ways, including playing his favorite pieces like "Fanfare for the Common Man" or "Peter and Wolf" on high volume early Sunday mornings. For 35 years he worked as a clinical audiologist at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and at the HFH Fairlane campus. Friends, neighbors, and colleagues remember Bill as an affable and generous man with a wonderful sense of humor and loving heart. He cared deeply for his family and friends and always endeavored to make the lives of those around him better, whether by a kind word, a helping hand, or selfless gesture.

Bill is survived by his children, David (Martha) Wilson, Bill (Lynne DeMoor) Wilson, John Wilson, and Elizabeth (Joseph) Molnar; and wife Arnetta Whitehouse. He was a loving grandfather to Caitlin (Nicholas Gayde) Wilson, Samuel Wilson, Bri Wilson, Mars Wilson, and T. J. Molnar.

Bill is preceded in death by his first wife Mary Josephine, brother David, sister Clare Mozak and his infant grandson Benjamin William. A memorial service in Bills honor will take place later this summer. In Bills memory, his family suggests donations to the Michigan Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation.
