Obituary of Nathan McDonald Duhl

Nathan “Nate” McDonald Duhl met his Lord and Savior on Feb. 2, 2024.

He was born to Julius Duhl and Eleanor Kremitsky (later McLeod), on Nov. 7, 1928 in Springfield, IL and moved to Detroit, MI as a young boy.  He attended Henry Ford Trade School which later launched his 51 year career with Ford Motor Company working as an engineer the majority of those years.   Nate met and married Constance (Connie) Burgess in 1947.  They welcomed five children while living in Lincoln Park and then moved to Dearborn Heights where they would remain and have three more children. Nate and Connie remained married until her death in 1995.  Nate enjoyed coaching little league baseball and being an Indian Guide Leader when his sons were young, bowling, golfing, and spending time with his family camping which included many summers in Myrtle Beach, SC.   Although it didn’t come to fruition, Nate aspired to be a professional bowler after his retirement.   Later in life, Nate continued to enjoy camping and traveling with his former long-time companion Joanne Solack. He was an active member of Guardian Lutheran Church in Dearborn, MI serving his Savior in many capacities which included being a Sunday School teacher and elder as well as being a member of the Men’s Softball team. Nate is survived by his eight children Roberta (John) Drutarosky of Redford, Gregg of Swartz Creek, Rick (Mary) of Trenton, Dale (Gail) of Livonia, Tom (Sandy) of Dearborn Heights, Lynn Lindenfelser of Dearborn Heights, Lee (Karen) of Grand Junction, CO, Chris (Teresa) of Dearborn, 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 4 nieces and nephews, and former long-time companion Joanne Solack.   He is preceded in death by his mother, father, step-father Tom McLeod, son-in-law Tom Lindenfelser, and grandson Nathan Duhl.

A Memorial Service will be held at Guardian Lutheran Church, 24544 Cherry Hill St., Dearborn, Saturday, March 2, 2024 at 11:00 AM with visitation starting at 10:00 AM.  A luncheon will follow the service.
