Obituary of Mina Patricia Grant

Mina Patricia “Pat” Grant, 88, of St. Clair Shores, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, March 5th at St. John’s Hospital in Detroit.

She was born September 16, 1935 in Detroit to Mina and Edward Anderson. She was a graduate of Bishop Strachan School in Toronto, Ont., Canada and the University of Michigan.

Meeting in college, Pat married Alan Keith Grant on August 24th, 1957 in Detroit. Although told by doctors that she would not be able to have children, Pat and Al produced four in rapid succession between 1958 and 1963. They took a breather at this point, before astonishing family and friends by producing another child in 1971, making their family complete.

Pat worked as a Speech Pathologist for the Detroit Board of Education for over 31 years, enriching the lives of hundreds of children, while at the same time caring for her 5 children and beloved husband.  She had lively interests in knitting and genealogy and was an enthusiastic  member of the Daughters of the British Empire as well as the Englebert Humperdinck Fan Club. She attended St. Michael’s Episcopal Church for many years, where she sang in the choir and volunteered at the The Little Thrift Shop.

Devoted to her family, she will always be loved and will be sadly missed by all.

Mina Pat was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her sister, Elizabeth Eggleston; and by her two eldest sons, Alan “Keith” Grant (Julie) and Douglas Grant (Mary).

She is survived by her remaining children: Patricia Grant (Luke), Robert Grant (Vickie), and Jennifer Klumpp (Perrin) and by nine grandchildren; Douglas Grant, Stuart Grant, Ian Grant, Eleanor Naud, Elizabeth Naud, Healy Grant, Claire Grant, Susan Grant and Rowan Klumpp. Pat is also survived by three great-grandchildren; Liam, Georgia and Lily Grant, all of whom she loved dearly.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on Saturday, April 13th at 11:00 at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Grosse Pte. Woods.
